Apple Screen Time setup checker

Updated 2026-08-15

The Apple setup checker is a five-box manual checklist for the family arrangement, Screen Time permission, selected app, unlock test and relock test. It reports only what the user ticks and cannot inspect, diagnose or change an Apple device.

Keeping unlock and relock as separate checks prevents a half-working setup from being labelled complete. The checklist recommends a short supervised test and a manual voucher fallback until all five observed results are true.

Turn a clear family agreement into missions children can complete and parents approve.

Keep using a manual voucher rule until the automated test passes.

This checklist reads only the boxes you tick. It cannot inspect Apple settings or diagnose the device.

A practical checklist

Example for the first week

Select one harmless test app, run a short session and tick relocking only after Apple's shield actually returns.

Common question

Can the checker tell whether an unticked permission is missing on the device?

No. It cannot read device state. An unticked box means only that the user has not confirmed the check on this page.
